The Hilleberg Saivo 4 is an exceptionally strong, fully freestanding four‑season dome tent for groups who need maximum space, security and reliability in exposed UK conditions and serious environments worldwide.
Part of
Hilleberg's Black Label range, this tent is designed to handle any terrain or weather conditions, from the mildest to the most demanding.
Inside Comfort
The Saivo 4 offers a genuinely expansive interior with a square floorplan that gives flexibility for sleeping layouts and gear organisation. With a generous 125 cm inner height, it is comfortable to move around, sit up and manage camp life during long stays or severe weather. The size and shape make it particularly well suited to expedition base camps, winter trips and gear‑heavy journeys.
Outside Performance
Built to Hilleberg Black Label standards, the Saivo 4 uses Kerlon 1800 outer fabric and robust 10 mm poles to deliver outstanding strength and durability. Its dome construction features multiple pole-crossing points, providing excellent resistance to high winds and very strong snow-load handling. The outer tent extends fully to the ground, with mesh areas backed by adjustable fabric panels so ventilation and warmth can be carefully controlled in harsh conditions.
Setup
Despite its size and strength, the Saivo 4 remains straightforward to pitch. The self‑supporting dome design requires only the vestibules to be pegged initially, making it practical on snow, rock or uneven ground. An innovative combination of full pole sleeves, partial sleeves and clips speeds up pitching while keeping poles secure. The inner and outer tents are linked but separable and pitch together to help keep the inner dry.
Optional Additions - Available SeparatelyFor added protection, an additional tough
Footprint can be purchased to help protect the tent’s floor from abrasion and to keep ground moisture from rising in the vestibule.
For warm-weather use, an optional Pole Holder Set allows the inner tent to be pitched on its own by attaching securely to the inner’s corners – ideal when a flysheet isn’t needed.

Understanding the Hilleberg Range
Hilleberg are widely regarded as one of the world's leading tent manufacturers, trusted by everyone from first-time backpackers to experienced mountaineers, expedition teams and outdoor professionals. Designed and developed in Sweden, Hilleberg tents have been used on every continent and have earned a reputation for exceptional reliability, innovative Kerlon fabrics and meticulous attention to detail.
One of the biggest misconceptions about Hilleberg is that the most expensive or strongest tent is automatically the best choice. In reality, every Hilleberg tent is designed for a specific purpose, balancing weight, strength, ventilation and living space to suit different environments and styles of adventure.
For example, while a Black Label tent offers outstanding strength for demanding conditions, it may not be the ideal choice for a lightweight summer trek or an extended trip in warmer climates. Likewise, a lightweight Yellow Label tent is perfect for many adventures but isn't designed for severe winter conditions. Choosing the right Hilleberg is about finding the tent that best matches where you'll go, the weather you'll encounter and how you like to travel.
That's why understanding Hilleberg's colour label system is so important.
Designed for snow-free conditions and warmer climates, Yellow Label tents are Hilleberg's lightest range. They prioritise low weight and excellent ventilation, making them ideal for summer backpacking, bikepacking, long-distance trails and lightweight trekking.
Red Label tents are Hilleberg's versatile all-season range, offering an excellent balance of strength, weight and comfort. For many people, they provide the ideal combination of durability and packability for year-round trekking in a wide variety of conditions.
Black Label tents are Hilleberg's strongest and most robust designs, built for demanding environments, prolonged use and severe weather. They prioritise maximum strength and durability where reliability is critical.
If you're unsure which Hilleberg is right for you, our Hilleberg specialists can help. Rather than recommending the most expensive model, we'll ask about the trips you have planned, the conditions you'll encounter and the features that matter most, helping you choose the tent that's best suited to your adventures.
