The Hilleberg Soulo is a freestanding, all‑season solo tent for adventurers who need maximum strength, pitch‑anywhere flexibility and dependable protection in challenging conditions around the world.
Part of Hilleberg's
Red Label range, these tents are designed for both short and longer trips in generally less demanding conditions in all seasons.
Inside Comfort
The inner tent offers plenty of usable space for one occupant and their gear, with a well-judged footprint that feels reassuringly roomy for a solo shelter. A 95 cm inner height allows comfortable sitting, while the generous length suits taller users particularly well. The integrated vestibule adds everyday practicality for storing wet kit and boots without overcrowding the living area.
Outside Performance
Built for true all‑season use, the outer tent extends fully to the ground to block wind, spindrift and driving rain. Adjustable fabric panels back the mesh areas, allowing ventilation to be controlled in colder or stormy conditions. Kerlon 1200 outer fabric combined with multiple 9 mm poles creates a structure that is remarkably strong for its weight. The dome design, with several pole-crossing points, delivers excellent snow load handling and outstanding stability in exposed environments.
Setup
The Soulo’s fully freestanding dome construction allows it to be pitched almost anywhere, including rock, boggy ground or snow, without relying on pegs. Short pole sleeves and clips make set‑up quick and simple, while the inner and outer tents are linked but separable and pitch together to keep the inner dry. Pegs can be added for extra security when conditions demand it but are not required to erect the tent.
Optional Additions - Available SeparatelyFor added protection, an additional tough
Footprint can be purchased to help protect the tent’s floor from abrasion and to keep ground moisture from rising in the vestibule. For when you want to pitch this tent's inner by itself in warmer climates. For warm-weather use, an optional
Pole Holder Set allows the inner tent to be pitched on its own by attaching securely to the inner’s corners – ideal when a flysheet isn’t needed.
Customise for warmer conditions by swapping the standard inner for a Mesh Inner Tent, improving airflow and comfort.

Understanding the Hilleberg Range
Hilleberg are widely regarded as one of the world's leading tent manufacturers, trusted by everyone from first-time backpackers to experienced mountaineers, expedition teams and outdoor professionals. Designed and developed in Sweden, Hilleberg tents have been used on every continent and have earned a reputation for exceptional reliability, innovative Kerlon fabrics and meticulous attention to detail.
One of the biggest misconceptions about Hilleberg is that the most expensive or strongest tent is automatically the best choice. In reality, every Hilleberg tent is designed for a specific purpose, balancing weight, strength, ventilation and living space to suit different environments and styles of adventure.
For example, while a Black Label tent offers outstanding strength for demanding conditions, it may not be the ideal choice for a lightweight summer trek or an extended trip in warmer climates. Likewise, a lightweight Yellow Label tent is perfect for many adventures but isn't designed for severe winter conditions. Choosing the right Hilleberg is about finding the tent that best matches where you'll go, the weather you'll encounter and how you like to travel.
That's why understanding Hilleberg's colour label system is so important.
Designed for snow-free conditions and warmer climates, Yellow Label tents are Hilleberg's lightest range. They prioritise low weight and excellent ventilation, making them ideal for summer backpacking, bikepacking, long-distance trails and lightweight trekking.
Red Label tents are Hilleberg's versatile all-season range, offering an excellent balance of strength, weight and comfort. For many people, they provide the ideal combination of durability and packability for year-round trekking in a wide variety of conditions.
Black Label tents are Hilleberg's strongest and most robust designs, built for demanding environments, prolonged use and severe weather. They prioritise maximum strength and durability where reliability is critical.
If you're unsure which Hilleberg is right for you, our Hilleberg specialists can help. Rather than recommending the most expensive model, we'll ask about the trips you have planned, the conditions you'll encounter and the features that matter most, helping you choose the tent that's best suited to your adventures.
