The Hilleberg Kaitum 2 is a lightweight, all-season tunnel tent for two people who want excellent space, weather protection and flexibility for UK backpacking, touring and year-round adventures without the weight of heavier expedition models.
Part of Hilleberg's
Red Label range, these tents are designed for both short and longer trips in generally less demanding conditions in all seasons.
Inside ComfortThe inner tent offers a generous and tall living space for two occupants, with enough room to sit up comfortably and organise kit during longer stays. Taller users will appreciate the usable headroom, while the overall layout makes the tent feel airy and practical, even when bad weather keeps you inside.
Outside PerformanceBuilt for all-season use, the outer tent extends to the ground to block wind, rain and spindrift, while adjustable fabric panels sit behind the mesh areas to balance warmth and ventilation. Kerlon 1200 outer fabric combined with 9 mm poles provides an impressive blend of low weight and solid stability, making the Kaitum 2 well suited to exposed UK camps, winter use and mixed conditions throughout the year.
Setup
The tunnel construction delivers an excellent space-to-weight ratio and a compact footprint. The inner and outer tents are linked but separable, and they pitch together to protect the inner during set-up. Continuous pole sleeves and a simple tensioning system allow the tent to be pitched quickly, and the structure requires only four pegs to stand. Dual entrances and vestibules give flexible access and ensure one door can usually be positioned out of the wind.
Optional Additions - Available SeparatelyFor added protection, an additional tough
Footprint can be purchased to help protect the tent’s floor from abrasion and to keep ground moisture from rising in the vestibule.

Understanding the Hilleberg Range
Hilleberg are widely regarded as one of the world's leading tent manufacturers, trusted by everyone from first-time backpackers to experienced mountaineers, expedition teams and outdoor professionals. Designed and developed in Sweden, Hilleberg tents have been used on every continent and have earned a reputation for exceptional reliability, innovative Kerlon fabrics and meticulous attention to detail.
One of the biggest misconceptions about Hilleberg is that the most expensive or strongest tent is automatically the best choice. In reality, every Hilleberg tent is designed for a specific purpose, balancing weight, strength, ventilation and living space to suit different environments and styles of adventure.
For example, while a Black Label tent offers outstanding strength for demanding conditions, it may not be the ideal choice for a lightweight summer trek or an extended trip in warmer climates. Likewise, a lightweight Yellow Label tent is perfect for many adventures but isn't designed for severe winter conditions. Choosing the right Hilleberg is about finding the tent that best matches where you'll go, the weather you'll encounter and how you like to travel.
That's why understanding Hilleberg's colour label system is so important.
Designed for snow-free conditions and warmer climates, Yellow Label tents are Hilleberg's lightest range. They prioritise low weight and excellent ventilation, making them ideal for summer backpacking, bikepacking, long-distance trails and lightweight trekking.
Red Label tents are Hilleberg's versatile all-season range, offering an excellent balance of strength, weight and comfort. For many people, they provide the ideal combination of durability and packability for year-round trekking in a wide variety of conditions.
Black Label tents are Hilleberg's strongest and most robust designs, built for demanding environments, prolonged use and severe weather. They prioritise maximum strength and durability where reliability is critical.
If you're unsure which Hilleberg is right for you, our Hilleberg specialists can help. Rather than recommending the most expensive model, we'll ask about the trips you have planned, the conditions you'll encounter and the features that matter most, helping you choose the tent that's best suited to your adventures.
