The Hilleberg Atlas is a large, modular group tent for expedition teams and outdoor groups who need exceptional strength, full standing height and dependable protection in the toughest UK and global conditions.
Part of Hilleberg’s Blue Label range, the Atlas is built for all-season use and excels in any situation where group sleeping or gathering space is essential.
Inside Comfort
The Atlas offers an expansive interior with a 200 cm internal height, allowing full standing room throughout, which is ideal for extended base camps, group accommodation or communal use. In its Basic configuration it is floorless, creating a versatile open space for cooking, meetings or shared sleeping. Optional inner tents can be added to tailor the layout for six or eight people, giving flexibility for different group sizes and trip types.
Outside Performance
Designed originally for polar research, the Atlas uses
Kerlon 2500 outer fabric and oversized 17 mm poles to deliver extreme strength and excellent snow load handling. Multiple pole crossing points, extensive guy-out options and protected vent covers ensure stability in high winds, heavy snowfall and prolonged bad weather. Large adjustable vents improve airflow and can also accommodate warm air ducting when used with external heaters.
Setup
Despite its size, the Atlas is designed to be practical in the field. The freestanding structure requires no fixed ground anchors to stand, with only guying required for stability. A combination of full pole sleeves and short sleeves with clips speeds pitching, while dual near-full height entrances provide easy access. The included carrier bag converts into a backpack, making transport manageable for remote approaches.
Optional Additions -
Available Separately
Atlas Connector – Creates a passageway between the doors of multiple Atlas tents, allowing you to link as many tents together as you like.
Atlas Inner Tent 8 – Sleeps eight, includes a sewn-in floor, and covers the entire area of the Atlas outer tent.
Atlas Inner Tent 6 – Sleeps six, features a sewn-in floor, and leaves space in the outer tent for an integrated vestibule.
Atlas Floor – Comes in two pieces for flexible configurations: cover the whole tent, half of it, or create an aisle down the middle.
Atlas Footprint – Protects your tent floor from abrasion and acts as a barrier against ground moisture.

Understanding the Hilleberg Range
Hilleberg are widely regarded as one of the world's leading tent manufacturers, trusted by everyone from first-time backpackers to experienced mountaineers, expedition teams and outdoor professionals. Designed and developed in Sweden, Hilleberg tents have been used on every continent and have earned a reputation for exceptional reliability, innovative Kerlon fabrics and meticulous attention to detail.
One of the biggest misconceptions about Hilleberg is that the most expensive or strongest tent is automatically the best choice. In reality, every Hilleberg tent is designed for a specific purpose, balancing weight, strength, ventilation and living space to suit different environments and styles of adventure.
For example, while a Black Label tent offers outstanding strength for demanding conditions, it may not be the ideal choice for a lightweight summer trek or an extended trip in warmer climates. Likewise, a lightweight Yellow Label tent is perfect for many adventures but isn't designed for severe winter conditions. Choosing the right Hilleberg is about finding the tent that best matches where you'll go, the weather you'll encounter and how you like to travel.
That's why understanding Hilleberg's colour label system is so important.
Designed for snow-free conditions and warmer climates, Yellow Label tents are Hilleberg's lightest range. They prioritise low weight and excellent ventilation, making them ideal for summer backpacking, bikepacking, long-distance trails and lightweight trekking.
Red Label tents are Hilleberg's versatile all-season range, offering an excellent balance of strength, weight and comfort. For many people, they provide the ideal combination of durability and packability for year-round trekking in a wide variety of conditions.
Black Label tents are Hilleberg's strongest and most robust designs, built for demanding environments, prolonged use and severe weather. They prioritise maximum strength and durability where reliability is critical.
If you're unsure which Hilleberg is right for you, our Hilleberg specialists can help. Rather than recommending the most expensive model, we'll ask about the trips you have planned, the conditions you'll encounter and the features that matter most, helping you choose the tent that's best suited to your adventures.
