We’re very proud and excited to introduce you all to our latest range, it has been a long time coming but it feels so right to have Big Agnes as part of our uber-lightweight camping range. Not just stopping at their iconic tents, we’ve also brought in rucksacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats and more. With only a handful of retailers in the UK, we’re very touched to be selling this great gear!
Who are Big Agnes?
With an outstanding reputation for low-weight, luxurious backcountry tents, Big Agnes has become one of the big names in the American and European wild camping scene. For those of you who have not heard of them, allow us to pull you from beneath your rock and illuminate you further.
Big Agnes is a small Colorado-based gearmaker established among the epic Colorado mountains, their playground and gear-testing haven. Formed in 2001, founders Bill Gamber and Len Zanni set out to forge a gearmaker that would inspire everyone to get out and explore. They also achieve this with a great deal of sustainable innovation.
Tents
The bread and butter of Big Agnes is low-weight backpacking tents. With an American approach to camping, Big Agnes is all about the ability to fully immerse yourself in nature. With this in mind, all our Big Agnes tents have the ability to work with or without the flysheet (as in the picture above). On clear nights, this is a great way to truly feel a part of the landscape, it’s also very nice for stargazing.
Our range is made up of some of BA’s lightest-weight tents, perfect for both ultra-light overnights and bikepacking with low pack sizes perfect for panniers or smaller rucksacks. The Tiger Wall UL and Copper Spur are two innovative bits of kit, both out on the hill as well as sustainably. Featuring DAC Featherlite poles, the likes of which we also see on MSR and Hilleberg tents, these Korean anodised aluminium poles pack in incredible strength for weight and flex beautifully. You won’t be straining to put these tents up in the cold wind.
Big Agnes source their fabrics from Dominico Textile. Lesser known in the outdoor industry, BA opts for these innovative fabrics, which include mesh, ground and flysheet materials for their superbly high quality, durability, and consistency. Within our range of Big Agnes tents, you will also find solution-dyed fabrics on the Tiger Wall range. Sustainably speaking, this process uses 50% less water and energy during manufacture. It also aids in making the fabric nicely UV-resistant. So it’s a win-win!
Included with all of our Big Agnes tents, you’ll get a great, high-quality peg set known as Dirt Daggers. As fellow peg connoisseurs, we both know that a good peg is a great thing. Dirt Daggers are specially shaped to properly piece even the hardest dirt and are ultra-light and extra tough for extended use when trekking or traveling.
Sleeping bags and mats
Big Agnes is the sort of brand that can completely fulfill all your camping needs, not just the tent. We keep a great new selection of sleeping bags and mats from Big Agnes and each has the same attention to detail as the tents. You will find top-of-the-range fabrics throughout mats and bags.
Sleeping bags
Pictured above we have the Big Agnes Torchlight (1st and 2nd from left) sleeping bag in both men and women’s options. Designed for those gram-counting backpackers searching for the lightest gear with comfort in mind, these bags feature all the bells and whistles found in the Torchlight series. An expandable panel increases bag space up to 10 extra inches! Depending on your sleep style and body shape, you can adjust the bag for a customized sleep experience. Our women’s specific bags differ in shape and fill weight with a less drastic taper from shoulders to hips, to feet – reducing cold spots and creating more warmth where you need it.
Prefer a Synthetic bag? That’s where the Big Agnes Anthracite bag (3rd and 4th from the left) comes in. A beautifully simple all-round bag with seriously strong eco-credentials, The Anthracite utilises recycled fabrics and insulation coupled with PFC-Free Dwr treatment to keep any moisture nicely at bay. Comfort and versatility are the name of the game here.
Sleeping mats
At Big Agnes, they insist that their air mats cushion you with at least 8 cm of air between your hips and the ground. Even in their lightest-weight air mats, you can count on that. They use internal construction that stabilises your sleeping surface so that your mat feels more like your bed at home. The outer tubes are always a little thicker than the inner so that you are comfortably cradled in the middle of the mat. The valves help you inflate your mat quickly, deflate it easily, and make micro-adjustments throughout the night with a simple pressure release that gives you control over how firm or soft your surface is.
Rucksacks
Tough, comfortable and with superb eco-credentials, our new range of Big Agnes bags is a great-looking and feature-filled solution to day walks and long treks alike. Made with recycled materials throughout, ultra-durable weaves are utilised to prolong the life of the pack. Adjustment is a key part of each pack design with maneuverable straps, hip belt plus removable lids. Injection moulded frame sheets are made to anatomically fit beautifully to the back offering tremendous comfort and support over long treks.
Trekking packs come ready with the Big Agnes Hoist Compression system that pulls pack weight inward and upward for positive load transfer while raising the bottom panel up to secure heavy loads.
