New instore and online: the Boreal Crux

Take a look as Dave from the Exeter Shop gives his thoughts on Boreal’s all new rock boot.

It always exciting when a new shoe lands in the shop, it’s even more exciting when it ticks several key features in one.

Described as a technical all-rounder, if you wanting the next step up in shoes but don’t want/need something too aggressive and down turned then the new Boreal Crux should a consideration for you.

First thoughts from slipping the shoe in was how nice the microfiber upper felt on my feet no rough or scratchy edges and a nice padded tongue and is vegan friendly. The crux has a nice wide opening meaning it’s easy to get your foot all the way down the end. A Large velcro base to give all the tension need over the top of the foot.

Fit wise they seem different to their other shoes I own the ninja which I have sized closer to my street shoe size however this time I have sized the same as my Scarpa and La sportive shoes. The heel is super soft meaning instant comfort and tight fit how it will perform only time will tell but it doesn’t push on your Achilles the same way other shoes in this bracket do.

The construction of the shoe seems solid with a generous 4.5mm of zenith pro 2 rubber under the toe to burn through. The shoe does feel soft on and despite the amount of rubber on the toe relatively sensitive.

We shall see how they handle a few sessions of Dartmoor granite but all initial thoughts are positive and combined with a very reasonable price tag this could be a nice shoe to anyone’s arsenal.
