Becky from our Bristol store takes Montane’s ever-popular trousers for a stroll and gives her thoughts.

Montane is a well-known outdoor brand producing both clothes and equipment, they were first founded in 1993. They are also a UK-based company. I have been given a great opportunity to test out some montane terra libra trousers, these are a new addition to our montane range put have certainly proven to be a very popular product amongst outdoor enthusiasts. Montane has a lifetime guarantee on their products which is great. The Terra range of trousers first started in 2001, now they produce many different types of terra trousers.

Fit

For me, the most important thing about walking trousers is how they fit. These fit generously, but without looking baggy and wide. They’re very comfortable as they give enough room in the legs but are still close-fitting for walking through bush-lined paths. As a bonus, these are also a smart pair of trousers, suitable for the trail and when visiting a pub after a long walk.

Features

The material used in the trousers is GRANITE stretch meaning it gives in two directions, ensuring they keep their shape and fit. This also makes them suitable for long-duration events and with the addition of being able to use the ankle press studs to bring them in tighter around the ankle, they are perfect for crossing any terrain. The microfleece-lined waistband assists with keeping the trousers up, whilst also staying comfortable under the extra load of a daysack. The mesh-lined pockets prevent the pocket areas from becoming sweaty under the extra layers and paired with the zipped security pocket ensure you have a safe place to store a couple of keys, or some cash should the worst happen. The DWR coating makes them water repellent from light rain, giving you time to escape before the worst of a downpour can hit.

My View

This is my first pair of Montane trousers, so I was not sure what I was expecting, but I have really come to love them. Being super comfy and lightweight they are perfect for adventuring. I think these trousers paired with a softshell jacket would be the perfect outfit for adventures all the way from spring through to autumn. As well as walking I have also used them to cycle in and they work well especially with the ankle studs which help bring them in around my ankle whilst cycling. With the weather being sunny and warm these have become my go to pair of walking trousers. I would recommend these trousers they are a great pair of walking trousers.
