Used year-round by the world’s most intrepid outdoor enthusiasts in some of the world’s harshest conditions, A Tentipi offers one of the most comfortable and luxurious environments to sit, sleep, cook, tell tales and enjoy time with your family in the great outdoors. Easy to pitch, incredibly tough, and built with the very most incredible detail, you will fall in love with Tentipi and their outstanding outdoor products as they don’t just produce beautiful tents but also stoves and other accessories which are built to last and perform seamlessly with the tents to the exact same specifications of quality and top performance.

A question we are asked regularly however by our customers is “What is the absolute best set up for a family out in the wilderness to get the very most comfort and luxury, even when the weather goes?” In truth, there is no ideal setup for everyone, due to everyone’s own needs and personal taste, however, we have all put our heads together and with some debate have agreed on our absolute perfect Tentipi setup for intrepid family camping.

With campsites reopening soon on the horizon, we can’t wait to get back out under the stars. We’ll start things off with the big question, which TENT?

The Tipi: The Safir 7 CP

Translating to Sapphire in English, this is Tentipi’s very strongest built model within their adventure range.v There is no question for us that if you’re looking for a tent that’ll last as long for years in harsh conditions which is easy to pitch and comes with premium features, the Safir is definitely our jumping-off point into our ultimate family setup. We’ve chosen the 7-person size because hey, space is nice! Depending on the size of your family, you may want to go smaller with the Safir 5, larger with the Safir 9, or if you’re really looking to squeeze everyone in you can even go for the Safir 15.

The Safir is designed for the most extreme conditions; stormy winds, icy expanses, glaciers, and under the burning sun. From the desert to the Arctic, for professional expeditions, demanding hikes, and many different outdoor pursuits activities, the Safir is also perfect for families who want to hike, camp, or go on motoring holidays. It has everything, rolled into one single tent.

Lavishly designed with an abundance of user-friendly features and advanced performance, the Safir is more than a tent; it’s a home in your rucksack.

Easy to use, the Safir 7 features a singular pole and can be pitched in just three minutes, offering ample space for couples, small groups, glampers, and trippers and it will even fit on wild camping spots.

Far better equipped than one would normally expect of a Nordic tipi, the In-Tent Vent system enables multi-stage, six-option adjustment from the inside of your tent, meaning you don’t even have to get out of your bag and the integrated chimney opening makes this tipi suitable with use with a fire stove. Integrated mosquito net in the upper part and behind the door allows for insect-free ventilation and three large, mesh-backed base vents increase ventilation and help to draw in air for use with fire.

The Cotpolmex P is a very strong and well-venting cotton/ polyester fabric which gives a much better indoor climate than is normally achieved in a tent. The natural colour creates a warm and pleasant atmosphere and it is quiet, allowing you to get a good night’s sleep. The denser fabric makes it more resistant to sunlight, offers better water repellency, and is designed for constant, all-year-round use.

Reinfomex C, 50cm reinforcement edging around the bottom of the tent is stronger than the main fabric, and further increases the life of the tent. This edging can be turned inwards to easily seal draughts using packs or an additional floor, or turned outwards and sealed using stones, earth, or snow.

For added comfort, an additional toggle-in Floor or Inner protects against condensation, and ground dampness and offers reliable protection from insects.

The floor: Tentipi Comfort Floor 7 Groundsheet

Tentipi’s tents do come with a floor, if the ground is dry and flat, you don’t need one as it is a superb feeling being so close to the earth however there are some excellent uses for a groundsheet if you need one, we have chosen here the comfort floor for all of their 7 person tipis, we do others to fit the other sizes also.

Although Tentipi’s Nordic tipis can be used without a floor, there are many benefits to using one. It protects the entire ground area of the tent, eliminating condensation caused by ground dampness and offering better protection against insects.

The Comfort Floor features two zip configurations; ‘O’ opening and ‘V’. To create the ‘V’, a zip extends from the door to the middle, allowing the floor to be folded back to create a wet area for shoes or in case of bad weather. Four zips in the centre open up to create an ‘O’ opening for use with a stove or a firebox.

The Floolix C is a lightweight floor fabric that is made specifically to resist wear and penetration and features a thick polyurethane coating. This fabric is designed for 3-4 weeks annual use, making it a good match for family camping.

The floor can be left attached to your tipi and it automatically ensures it is in the correct position when pitching.

The Stove: The Eldfell Pro 5

The Eldfell stove is the natural heart of the Nordic tipi and a faithful friend in cold and damp conditions. Get rid of dampness and cold, create a warm, cosy atmosphere, dry clothes and cook food — basically, enjoy your home comforts.

The advanced design of the Eldfell means combustion takes place nearer the ground, creating more heat inside the Nordic tipi and reducing wood consumption. The spacious combustion chamber is spacious and about 50cm long to take long, thick logs and the extendable insulation pipe protects the tent fabric even in strong winds. The spark arrester protects both the tent and the surrounding area and to prevent sinking when used in snow, the stove legs are notched for support poles.

Fits Adventure tipis size 5 and comes in its own purpose-made wooden box. For larger tipi’s, you will need additional chimney extensions, HERE.

The Porch: The Tentipi Canopy 5/7 CP

Keeping things simple, this versatile canopy can be attached to your tipi to create an extended living space or used as a tarp for lightweight camping.

Easy to attach and remove without taking down the tent, the canopy attaches via the accessory sleeve located above the door and using the singular pole, it can be pegged out in place using the guylines. It offers you a dry entry by diverting any rain water from the door and it is easy to remove if it gets too windy.

Not just for use with a tipi, this tarp can be pitched alone to create a shaded living area.

For even easier pitching: The Tentipi Pole Plate

This rather modest item serves two terrific purposes. It helps prevent your centre pole from sinking into soft ground. It is also a template enabling you to easily find the correct positions for the tent pegs. It can be used instead of the cloth template that comes with the tent. Before you get straight into pitching a tipi, you need to know where your pegs are going, and using the pole plate to mark out your pitch points enables a perfect pitch every time allowing you to be the true envy of the campsite.
