Materials and insulation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With many of Rab’s newest most innovative products, they have made the transition into fully recycled materials. This eco-approach is certainly becoming Rab’s signature, they have made great innovative leaps in their new range to ensure that their products make as little impact on the environment as possible. In the Mythic Alpine jacket, our two main components are the fabric and the down, both are 100% recycled. We have:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- Recycled 10D nylon Pertex Quantum \u2013 A soft, lightweight, windproof fabric that encourages insulation to fully loft. Highly packable and protective, it’s ideal for mountain activities.<\/li>
- 900FP R.D.S Recycled Down \u2013 Fluorocarbon free down with a Hydrophobic treatment applied at the source during down processing. Allowing it to absorb less water, dry faster, and retain loft.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Shaving grams wherever possible it has lightweight, low bulk, stitch-through construction to stabilise the down while allowing excellent breathability. Squares around the core maximise warmth, while regular baffles on the sleeves improve mobility. Pre-curved and articulated, the sleeves have also been designed to allow easy arm lift, movement, and articulation for climbing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So… What’s it for?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As is hinted at in the name, this is a jacket made for fast-moving alpine activity in challenging, cold conditions. Though not an insulator built for being idle in very cold temperatures, this is the perfect jacket for taking part in hard activities, such as climbing, trekking, scrambling, and more. For a British winter, this is an excellent hiking jacket on cold days, perfect as an outer jacket or for slipping under a waterproof when the heavens open above. It packs away small and adds very little weight to your pack on long treks. It is a perfect insulator to throw on during a chilly evening or when stopped on autumnal hikes. This versatility also makes it a superb jacket for the everyday, though its slim fit makes it more aimed at technical use.
