Snow_Peak-bowl-plate-review.txt I bought the Snow Peak Titanium Bowl (STW-003T) and the Titanium Plate (STW-002T) as a pair - which took me just into the free delivery zone. The card payment handling was flawless, and I received e-mail confirmation of the order and also of despatch on the next working day. The package arrived the day after despatch. Excellent turn-around and service. I chose Snow Peak as research on other websites informed me that it was a Japanese manufactured product, and for personal reasons I do not wish to buy Chinese products. It would have been helpful if the country of manufacture had been given in the specifications on the Taunton Leisure site. The labels on the items confirm that they are indeed made in Japan. The plate is actually a little larger than Snow Peak themselves claim measuring 190mm diameter, and rather heavier than the Taunton Leisure specification - in fact it's 63g compared to TL's 57g. The bowl measures 139mm and weighs 53g. this is rather larger than Snow Peaks specification of 130mm, and heavier than TL's spec of 45g. Not being an ultra-lightweight hiker, the differences of a few grams are irrelevant to me, but accurate sizing would be useful, especially if one is trying to nest these inside other items, or have things that need to go inside them. On that note it might be relevant to some to record that the bottom of the bowl is 85mm diameter, so a little too small if you wanted to put some gas stove heads inside. I bought the pair as an alternative to the Snow Peak Titanium Mini Solo Cook Set, or the Snow Peak Titanium Trek 900 Cook Set, realizing that they weren't really designed as cookware. I just needed something to go in the day pack for longer walks to make extra brews after I've exhausted what's in the flask, and to give me the possibility of cooking up an emergency pouch meal if I have to bivvy out over-night. I've tried them out using a Trangia burner in a home made stand/windshield, using the plate as a lid. The bowl works really well as a small pan, though the base now has the classic bright colouring you see on Titanium jewellery. It's a bit too small to use with a military pouch meal still in the pouch, though I was able to cram one in with just enough water to cover it. For a single use in an emergency though I'd just empty out the contents and cook direct in the bowl. Nothing sticks to the titanium surface so a quick wipe out and in with the water for a brew and you're sorted! The 450cc mug would be ideal though - so perhaps a better option if this would be a regular need. It's less than 20g heavier, so a small overhead. The plate doesn't work at all well as a fry-pan, though, as a pan, it has quite a large capacity and you can cook up a small (220g) tin of beans. One could heat up a can of soup and split it between two people using the bowl and the plate. Neither bowl or plate get over hot on the stove and it was easy to lift them off with gloved hands. If you're just looking for a lightweight bowl and plate these are superb, if you're looking for a cheap Ti cookset, or an emergency one, then they'll work - but there are limitations. I'm well impressed with the quality of the items, and hints will be dropped about the 450ml Snow Peak Titanium Single Mug being a suitable present ... 20th Jan, 2012

Arrived next day after dispatch - which is amazing considering its free postage. Very happy with the bowl even though it weighed in at 53 grams, not the 45 grams as stated. Sides are steep enough to take a pot holder and it looks big enough to take two 65 gram packets of noodles. I'll make a lid for it from heavy foil, the same as I did for my ti mug. That's it. What more can I say? For the weight and what it holds, it's a bargain compare to other ti stuff. 25th May, 2011

i bought this to go with my mini trangia set up and the trangia trangle it is a great eating bowl but allso it is a great cooking bowl it is bit smaller than the mini trangia bowl/pot so when cooking on the trangia triangle you have to be a bit carefull but it works fantastic delivery it arrived the next day
