5 stars scarpa trek - review Written by keels
My experience of these boots and of Scarpa boots in general is more positive. I've had these boots a year used them on lots of day walks, a few multi day trips, and most recently on a 3 day hike in mountainous snowy conditions. I find them comfortable and durable and feel confident they will still be in service for a good while longer.

Don't consider buying these boots if you intend using them for walking. I purchased my boots from Taunton Leisure in Bristol 18 months ago, and the leather on both boots has split near to the toe line. When asked if there was any way I could have them replaced (or at least have a discount on a replacement pair) I was asked how often I use the boots" - I use them regularly for dog walking - apparently they are not designed for regular use! From now on I will stick to cheap boots that I can afford to replace every 18 months.

We are sorry to hear about this. Tony, The Manager of our Bristol Store has written this response below:-

Proofing and caring for your boots - Can you help the life expectancy of your boots? The answer is yes as with all outdoor kit care and maintenance is essential.
Fabric or leather they both need cleaning and waterproofing regularly. How often depends on where you are walking i.e. Dartmoor, Exmoor and the like, with their brush and bracken and peaty soils will strip any goodness and waterproofing out of your boots.
The twigs and soils that get inside your boots will pierce the Gore-Tex lining, if not washed out which is something that most of us seem to forget.
On the other hand the most common question I get asked is how long will my boots last? This is a question I still don't have the answer to.
Over the years I have worked here I have noticed that dog walking seems to be very hard on boots i.e. being used day in day out and as a result not having time to dry out, this is a  bad combination for any boot and the only suggestion I can give is welly boots ... or perhaps you could purchase a second pair of your favourite boots and wear them alternatively allowing time for each pair to dry out naturally and time for treatments to work.
