The famous Scarpa Manta walking boots are ideally suited to hill, mountain and glacier walking on rugged terrain and the occasional easier alpine and Uk winter climb.

This boot excels in winter walking, where crampons are used for extended periods. The Manta has been developed over the years and is now lighter, more stable and tougher than ever.

For previous models the Manta has been lowered, making it more dexterous and stable underfoot. Despite a weight reduction Scarpa have been able to add a generous rubber rand, which adds protection and abrasion resistance.

Overall the Manta is a prime choice for UK winter walking and mountains, trusted by thousands of people to keep their feet warm, dry and comfortable on long days throughout the year.

How waterproof are these boots?

The Scarpa Manta boot has no waterproof lining in the boot but it's made from leather which has been treated to make it water resistant. You will need to maintain this by treating your boot regularly.

Would these boots be suitable for summer alpine walking and summitting Gran Paradisio? Thanks

Thanks for your question, yes I'd say the Manta's would be suitable, it's a B2 rated boot which is in the middle of the scale of crampon compatibility and gives an indication of the likely use that the boots can take. If it was summer trekking on only trails and paths in the alps I'd say that you could get some boots which were lighter and more flexible but if you are summitting mountains with lying snow / ice and plan to walk in these conditions for more than just a small amount of time then you will need a boot like the Manta which insulates the foot and can take crampons, and offers much better support.
