If you like good wine and food, and feel like some excellent climbing in central France, then this guidebook will be just the ticket. The photos and topo illustrations inside are about as lavish as a top Grand Cru Gevery Chambertain or Chassange Montrachet - and nothing like the cost! So you get a lot better value for money with Jingo Wobbly guidebooks.
This region is one of the world's best technical climbing areas. The predominant rock is limestone, and in most cases there, it is a very hard and fine grained stone - very similar to the Frankenjura. However, it does vary, so your fingertips will get relief from the pain induced by sharp brittle holds. Variety is certainly on offer, with small to giant cliffs, steep to overhanging, walls and grooves. There is simply so much on offer that you are almost spoilt.
The Bourgogne is directly in the way between Britain and the Alps, and therefore cannot be ignored. The campsites are lovely, and the cliffs are very easily approached. If you want a climbing area with a difference, but not too far a drive, then this is the perfect spot.
This guidebook is to introduce you to the area and give you plenty of
information to get you going, and in a format that is easily understood, and
with well checked grades.
All of the topos are in full colour and include the latest in graphic design techniques. This allows for illustration of many parts of a cliff that would not be seen by a photo, and enhance the parts which climbers will look for when finding a particular route. All difficulties are colour coded. All icons used are explained in international languages.
Not only does this book recommend climbing, but it also gives you around 40 wine villages to check out and try, and even leave room for tasting notes. This area offers everything to those who enjoy life.
