These Boots are definately made for walking...so much so that I bought a second pair to wear should the ones I'm using eventually wear out!! Get them, you will not be disappointed. 10th Feb, 2012

Would this be a suitable boot for crampons -walking in the summer on a glacier for part of the time?

Thanks for your question. The explorer ridge is a very flexible boot so would not be recommended for use with crampons. At minimum you would want a fairly rigid 3 season boot starting from one of the Meindl boots or the Mammut Mt trail that would be used with a C1 crampon.
