Alt-berg are a specialist British company manufacturing boots for use worldwide.
The Alt-berg bootmakers have been manufacturing walking boots and hiking boots since 1989, with the aim of producing the best British walking boots for the worst British weather.
Manufacturing boots at 2 small factories allows them to give their full attention to each pair of they make, and means they take pride in carrying forward their tradition as bootmakers.
Their 'home factory' is based in Richmond, North Yorkshire, and manufactures trekking boots for all outdoor activities - trekking boots, adventure travel boots, hiking boots and walking boots. Being situated on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales allowed Alt-berg good winter testing grounds for their boots, as well as on the Cairngorms and Cuillin mountains in Scotland.
Their second factory is based in the treviso region of Northern Italy.
"Sometimes the most difficult thing to achieve is simplicity - we start with simple ideas...but as time passes they become complex...and so with Alt-Berg boots. I keep returning to my own founding principles...the best materials, quality and workmanship with simple clean designs and to these I combine a choice of width fittings in english full and ½ sizes. Availability & Fitting Info:
Alt-Berg boots are currently only available in our Taunton store and online, and come in 4 width fittings. But because there is such a large range of sizes and widths, we highly recommend our free boot fitting service at Taunton store. This will ensure you get the best size and width for your feet (even if you have 'awkward' feet!).
We therefore advise that you should not buy a pair of Alt-berg boots online unless you have already had a fitting, or are replacing your current pair.
